And Then There Was 1

My Christmas Wish For You . . .

Christmas is a season of hope—of gathering close with family and friends, sharing laughter, stories, and the kind of joy that warms us from the inside out.

And yet… for many of us, Christmas is also bittersweet.

We hold fast to the true message of this holy season: that God loved us enough to come near. That Christ was born into the messiness of this world, walked life on our terms, and gave His life for us—only to rise again, offering everlasting life to all who believe.

That truth is steady. Unchanging. Full of hope.

Still, our hearts can ache.

We miss the ones who should be here—the spouse, the child, the parents, the loved ones whose seats feel especially empty this time of year. We long to see that familiar face, hear that laugh, feel that hug, hold that hand just one more time.

For me, Christmas carries both joy and longing. I miss Fred deeply, especially because Christmas Day was also his birthday. He loved to say—always with a grin—that Jesus was born on his birthday.

So yes… it’s both for me.

Whatever this season holds for you—whether your heart feels full, tender, heavy, or somewhere in between—I wish you hope that runs deeper than the sadness, and joy that gently finds its way in, even if only in moments.

I’ve learned that one of the ways I honor the ones I miss is by choosing to bring joy where I can—by letting love be louder than loss. That is my gift to their memory.

My prayer is that this Christmas finds you smiling when you least expect it…
feeling a peace that surprises you…
and knowing a love far greater than anything we could ever imagine.

“Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.”
— Luke 2:10

From this Gritty Granny heart to yours—
wishing you and those you love a Christmas filled with light, grace, and gentle joy.

Merry Christmas. 🎄✨
